At Pinewood we are using Google Classroom as our home learning platform.
The Government expectation for Year 1 and Year 2 children is that children learning from home complete 3 hours of home learning each day. Reception children will be asked to complete daily tasks in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Lessons will be uploaded by 7pm the night before so that parents can look through the planning, if desired before delivering it to their children.
Some lessons may include videos created by your child’s class teacher with activities that can be completed at home. We will be adapting this to ensure that you can complete the lessons using resources that you may have. Lessons will include PowerPoints, worksheets or photographs that you can access through Google Classroom. Once completed your child can submit requested learning activities ready to be checked by their teacher. Teachers will respond weekly to your child’s completed work, looking for child engagement in their learning and how they are progressing in order to inform future planning.
The daily timetable for the three hours of learning will include:
Lessons will be sequenced and structured, as it would have been should all children have been in school. Topic learning will be blocked each week so that children can follow a sequence of lessons to develop certain skills.
Parents can contact class teachers via Google Classroom should they need any support or have any concerns.
If you have any queries about home learning please do not hesitate to email the school office [email protected]. Please ensure that the subject of your email clearly indicates which class your child is in.
