Active Travel

Pinewood Infant School actively encourages our pupils and staff to walk, scoot or cycle to school as it keeps us fit and healthy; it helps our pupils develop road safety skills; it helps keep our local air clean; and keeps our streets free from congestion.

Our team of Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) organise a number of engaging and informative activities throughout the year. Let’s meet the team!

We are taking part in the Modeshift STARS scheme which recognises schools for showing excellence in supporting walking, cycling and other forms of active and sustainable travel.  We are aiming for our Bronze Accreditation.

Walk to School Week

Throughout the week, all children were encouraged to walk or ‘park and stride’ to school, to promote active and sustainable travel.  The JRSOs also hosted a competition to add to the excitement of the week.  Well done to everyone who took part and received their certificate and/or prize!
