Pinewood Infant School has provision children with Speech, Language and Communication needs. This consists of 15 places funded from Hampshire Educational Authority and serves Northeast Hampshire. Children with these spaces are allocated through County systems.
In Year R the children are fully inclusive in the mainstream class. They receive extra support within the class and are withdrawn for small group activities designed to develop their language skills and next steps as identified. This helps to develop their social and language skills whilst providing good role models and the full Early Years experience of learning through play.
In Key Stage 1 the children have a personalised curriculum and programme between their year group mainstream class and the Resourced Provision small class. This enables them to work with their mainstream class to a greater or lesser extent depending on their individual needs. This programme is flexible and changes as the children develop and grow skills.
The small Resourced Provision class offer a language rich environment with the full range of curriculum activities designed to develop the children’s next steps in language and learning.
The Speech and Language Therapist is on site for one day per week. She works closely with the school to develop language skills through the everyday class environment and train staff on how to deliver programmes.

Please note that whilst we are happy to show you around the Resourced Provision, it is the Local Authority that offers children a place and not the school.
